Upcoming-Catwoman actress Zoe Kravitz has spoken about why she finds the character so intriguing.
At the Television Critics Association, Zoe Kravitz let the press in on why she likes the power Catwoman represents. To her, the character is a symbol of strong femininity.
I was never into a lot of comic books, but that world was always really intriguing to me. I think Catwoman/Selina Kyle represents really strong femininity and I’m excited to dive into that. Femininity means power and I think it’s a different kind of power than masculine power. That’s something I think is really interesting about Batman and Catwoman. I think Batman represents a very masculine power and Catwoman represents a very feminine power, slightly more complicated, and softer too. I like the idea that you can be soft, you can be gentle, and still be very powerful and so very dangerous.
It’s interesting that Kravitz makes a point that feminine power is very different, yet equally as strong as being masculine. Neither side is “better” than the other. Simply different.
Prepping for Catwoman
Meanwhile, filming for Matt Reeves’ Batman movie has been going on in London. Zoe Kravtiz also revealed to Ellen Degeneres the downside of playing Catwoman: training.
According to Kravitz, she is on an intense workout regimen, while doing costume fittings.
We’ve had many [costume fittings]. It’s going really well. It’s very exciting, and I’ve been training a ton, too, which has been great and hard. (I) come home limping everyday.
