DC Comics announced a six-part mini-series Absolute Catwoman.
The publisher revealed the comics series at New York Comic Con. Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder and Bitch Planet writer Che Grayson will co-write the series. Bengal will provide the art for the series. The series will delve into the backstory of Selina and her ascendance to becoming an infamous cat burglar. It will answer the question of how did she go from being an orphan to becoming the Catwoman that fans first saw at the end of Absolute Batman #12. Additionally, it will also have Selina dive into one of the biggest heists in her career. Not only will she take on the tech industry, but also the social structures, and even some government agencies. Grayson explains the wide breadth the series will cover.
“She’s no longer the person who wants to run away across, she wants to run away up… It’s political secrets, it’s espionage, it’s everything you love about the high-tech world that’s hard to get into, and she can get in there. I’m just excited to have Scott bring me on and believe in me.”
Updating Absolute Catwoman
The NYCC panel also revealed that the character will have a more modern twist on the burglar motif. Now, she does not steal jewels but steals secrets and tech. She is also a high-tech queen of crime with also sorts of goodies packed into her suit. Her helmet is an AI orb, not unlike the Black Mask from the first story arc of Absolute Batman.

As seen in the concept art sketches, the rest of Catwoman’s suit is teched-out. Her body suit can create some sort of camouflage mode. Her tail can be used in a multiple ways, either as the traditional whip, a grappling hook, or even an ammunition chain for a gun. Rubber bullets. Honest.
According to co-writer Che Grayson, Selina is a force to be reckoned with as a character, similar to Lisbeth Salander of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Grayson will define Selina as a female character by her resourcefulness and grit and not just sex appeal.
Absolute Catwoman hits comic books shops sometime in 2026. However, DC did not release a formal release date yet.
