Marvel released a crop of more variant covers for the anticipated crossover Deadpool/ Batman #1.

The inter-company crossover event occurs next week on September 17th. Now it has released its final round of covers that feature more Marvel and DC team-ups. Additionally, Marvel is showing off some interior pages drawn by main artist Greg Capullo.

J. Scott Campbell Huntress/ Psylocke Cover

Writer Zeb Wells and Capullo are the creative team for the Deadpool and Batman storyline. The plot is still under wraps for the main event tale. However, Wells had the most vaguest of teases.

“Deadpool shows up when Gotham City is in imminent danger. The worst possible time. Batman doesn’t have a lot of patience for Deadpool. And Wade’s take on Batman is… complicated. In the most Deadpool way possible.”

The select preview pages does shed a little more light on the plot despite having no word balloons. Deadpool crashes into Wayne Manor in front of Bruce Wayne wearing a robe, so it seems likely that Deadpool already knows Wayne’s secret identity. The confrontation seems surprisingly casual with the two of them chatting and Deadpool just walking away.

I don’t know how likely it is, but it would really funny if this was a revamp of Bruce Wayne’s Year One origin before he becomes Batman. Like, instead of a bat flying into the window, he goes, “Yes, father. I shall become the Deadpool…”

Anyways, the third page shows Commissioner Gordon shining the Bat-Signal. However, instead of Batman, Deadpool seems to respond to the call. Gordon has the reasonable response of showing Deadpool his own gun, presumably telling him to back off.

Other Marvel and DC Crossovers

There is one more preview page for the comic that features one of the one-shot’s ancillary stories. Adam Kubert draws an action-filled Daredevil and Green Arrow page. It looks like the two heroes are battling TWO armies of ninjas: the Hand and -I think- the League of Assassins. Kevin Smith writes and Kubert draws the Daredevil/ Green Arrow story.

There is also a preview of Jeff the Land Shark and Krypton by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru. Krypto and Jeff seem to be playing a rousing game of volleyball next to a destroyed tanker ship. Both of these crossovers are a part of other mini-stories in the comic. The other previously-announced Marvel-DC teams-up include:  Captain America and Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson.

Additionally, Marvel revealed two more crossovers: Rocket Raccoon and Green Lantern by Al Ewing and Dike Ruan, and Old Man Logan and Dark Knight Returns Batman by Frank Miller.

Yes, Frank Freakin’ Miller is back doing a Batman tale for this comic. That is a major flex on Marvel’s part.
