The Batman director Matt Reeves posted an update that he finally completed the script to The Batman Part II.
Reeves posted on X (formerly Twitter) a picture of the completed script in the foreground. In the background, we can spy Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin. Tomlin did script revisions in the original The Batman screenplay.

The picture is sort of vague with a cryptic caption. However it is implied that Reeves has finished the first draft for the sequel.
‘The Batman Part II’s Slow Development
This comes after intense months of speculation and criticism that the follow up to The Batman was cancelled due to the many, many delays in a release date. Most recently, DC Studios co-president James Gunn reported that all of the conspiracy theories are false and offered the simplest explanations for the delays: Matt Reeves is just slow in writing. On top of that, Gunn emphatically resigned that people are being mean for scrutinizing the sequel delays. In an interview with Rolling Stones magazine he said:
I’ll also say Batman Part II is not canceled. That’s the other thing I hear all the time—that Batman Part II is canceled. It’s not canceled. We don’t have a script. Matt’s slow. Let him take his time. Let him do what he’s doing. God, people are mean. Let him do his thing, man.
Who is the Villain?
Now that the script is done, a the next big question is: who are the villains in Part II? Colin Farrell is almost-certainly going to return as the Penguin given his rise to the head of Gotham’s crime families. Will we see Paul Dano’s Riddler or Barry Keoghan’s Joker return as well? In the past, there were rumors about Clayface being the villain based on director Mike Flanagan’s famous tweet. But now fans are aware that the tweet lead to Clayface getting his own movie, not him being in The Batman‘s follow-up.
Whoever the villains will be, there is a ton of excitement for Part II.
The Batman Part II should hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
