Clayface is starting to circle around potential lead actors for the horror film.
According to THR, Clayface is looking at young British actors to take the role. The names include George MacKay from 1917 and Tom Blyth from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Other actors in the running are Jack O’Connell from Sinners and Leo Woodall from The White Lotus.
There is even an update that indicates one of the actors on this list has already been cut. However, which actor got cut is anybody’s guess at this point.
Of all the actors in the listing Jack O’Connell seems to have the most experience with horror movies. He also has a more hard-edge look to him that may make him more believable as a monster like Clayface.
Look at him. Doesn’t he look like someone who is desperate enough to get addicted to a shape-shifting cream, then turn into a mud monster?
The Budget of ‘Clayface’
In other related news, the report also indicates that Clayface will be a mid-budget movie. That is in-line with expectations that Clayface is not considered a tentpole blockbuster, like say, Superman is.
Typically most horror movies are relatively cheaply made, usually less than $100 million. On the flipside, superhero movies tend to be insanely expensive. A typical Marvel Studios movie can run between $180 to $300 million. As another example, The Batman’s budget was somewhere around $200 million.
So seeing Clayface be made with a more modest budget is in-line with industry expectations.
Stay tuned to DKN for more updates on which actor gets selected.
Clayface will hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
