Review by James Attias

“Beast World” is still roaring on, casualties are starting to pile up… and Nightwing is a fox?! Can our heroes prevail? We’ll only find out once we jump into Titans #7!

Zero Fox Given

Last issue we learned that the person behind most of the Titans’ recent problems, Brother Eternity, is a Tamaranian who used to be a Royal Guard to Starfire and her family. After a splash of betrayal, a pinch of evil alien parasite god thing, and a touch of makeup… here we are.

It’s worth noting that in my recent review of the “Beast World” event, I asked why Nightwing wasn’t a fox any more. (animal, of course… he’ll always be a stone-cold fox). The reason is that this issue took place before that happened. So, once you’ve read this chapter, everything makes perfect sense. It’s a shame DC couldn’t release them in chronological order, it does take some of the consequences away this way.

Other than continuity issues, this was a fantastic issue. We see the real power of the Titans, especially Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg. They kick some real villain butt in this book and it was a pleasure to read.

When You Wish Upon a Starfire

It’s no secret that I love the art of Travis Moore, it’s a wonderful balance of realism, comic book, and cartoon. So brava to the artist. This colorful adventure was made even better by the wonderful art. Foxwing looked cool, and some of the moments with the alien spores were flat-out gross.

I’ve been reviewing quite a few Tom Taylor books of late, and it’s worth noting how well-distinguished the tone of each series that he writes is. From Nightwing to Titans and even the “Beast World” event book itself, each one has a different tone and it really does make reading them a pleasure.

The events of this book will obviously come back later after the “Beast World” event has ended, but without spoiling anything, I really can’t wait to talk more about how badass Starfire was in this issue. She’s been given a rough ride on TV and comics of late, so seeing her in this run and getting a perfect representation of the character has been a real breath of fresh air. More, Pleeease.

Titans #7 is a great comic and a must-read for fans of the team, “Beast World”, Starfire, Nightwing, heroes, villains, and awesome comic art and writing… this list could become very long, so save yourself the time and just read this book!
