Review by James Attias

The world is in danger, everyone’s being infected, and spores are traveling from person to person, turning them into Beasts. Can the world survive? Find out in Titans: Beast World #2.

Simply the Beast

What a first issue to kick off this huge story! The world has survived one catastrophic event and is immediately plunged into another. Beast Boy has been turned into a Giant Starro (who’s being called Garro). He was OK but has since been affected by chaos magic from Doctor Hate… and all of that happened in issue #1!

In the two tie-in comics that came out that same week as issue one, we learned something that makes this chapter a little less of a shocker. That’s right kids, DC deciding to publish two tie-in books set after this issue did take a lot of the pop out of it, but fear not, the magnificent writing talent of Tom Taylor prevails. I won’t go into too much detail as I’d hate to add a spoiler to a complaint about spoilers, but Tom Taylor really does write Nightwing better than anyone.

This issue shows off some important plot points, the reasoning behind events in issue one, and delivers the consequences of the spores infecting people, and who they infect. There were some truly great moments in this issue that I was not expecting, so it was great fun to read.

Beast Friends Forever

This book was a visual spectacle, that I can’t praise enough, it was simply beautiful to look at. I’m an absolute sucker for really colorful, really comic booky art. I love bright colors, and I love heroes looking cool while flying into an explosion and this book ticked all those boxes. Ivan Reis, Brad Anderson, and Danny Miki, you’re all wonders! I can’t wait to see which characters and hero hybrids we get to see next!

Conclusion

Titans: Beast World #2 is a beautiful comic. It had some truly stunning moments, and I hope issue three isn’t spoiled by another tie-in. This storyline has got me beasting with anticipation.
