IT’S THE END! Knight Terrors: Night’s End finishes up DC’s nightmare event in spectacular fashion, and gives us final answers on lingering questions… it’s gonna be one hell of a ride!

Exit Light

I really %&*£$ HATE MAGIC!

The Justice League (well, some of them) are awake, and they’re all ready to face the nightmare of Insomnia, after facing their own. The Nightmare Stone is in his hands, and he knows how to use it. Nightmare versions of Earth’s premier superhero team are menacing the general populace, and everything looks very, VERY bleak.

Can our Nightmare Trinity save the day before the end? Will Daniel finally show his face to reclaim his power? What new darkness will emerge from the fallout of this terror?

Well, I told you all this event would have long lasting consequences, and it feels good to be right.

Joshua Williamson has set a new status quo for the DCU, and Knight Terrors: Night’s End has set a LOT of changes in motion. A shift in public perception here, a devastating loss there, and a new, extremely powerful villain to cap it all off, Williamson has pulled no punches with this event and he’s leaving his mark on the DC Universe, with style and flair.

Speaking of the new villain, a lot of stories recently (see Batman: The Brave and The Bold #4) have contributed to a long, ongoing story involving a certain Squad, its illustrious leader, and her intentions for the world and its superheroes. This event is no exception. Something very big is building, and I can’t wait for it’s culmination.

I must give a special shout-out to one of my favourite characters, Wesley Dodds, and how he’s been depicted throughout this entire saga. I’ve got nothing but love for the way he’s been used, and his moments to shine in this issue were definitely a joy to behold.

Off to Never-Never Land

Please. Let’s stop this together.”
– Deadman

Knight Terrors: Night’s End has a lot to discuss in terms of artwork. Howard Porter, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi, Trevor Hairsine and Rain Beredo have all knocked it out of the park for this issue, and their styles have blended together very well indeed.

The action sequences (mostly by Porter) are all brilliant, with his ethereal style really shining. The nightmare/Insomnia sequences are all great as well, with the final showdown with Deadman being a particular highlight for me.

Wesley Dodds’ character design throughout this whole event has been truly on point. The way his outfit is drawn by Camuncoli throughout the main series makes me want a new Sandman Mystery Theatre book from him rather desperately. Maybe if his new miniseries does well?

Conclusion

Although I may not have gotten all of the things I wanted from this event, I certainly got my money’s worth. Knight Terrors: Night’s End wraps up this unique crossover very well, and delivers a satisfying end to a very bad dream.

The fallout from this tale will be felt for a good long while by our heroes… but will this effect the wider world?

Only time will tell!
