Happy Batman Day! Today is the day that we celebrate anything and everything Batman! In honor of the Dark Knight, LEGO has announced a Batwing set based on the aerial vehicle from Batman (1989).

This beast of a LEGO set is a whopping 2,363 pieces. Scheduled to hit stores on October 21st, the Batwing is based on the design used in Tim Burton’s 1989 film. It features a full interior, removable canopy and posable aerodynamic flaps. It also comes with a screen that features the Joker’s gas balloons from the film and a “Bat Engine” label.

The Batwing measures at over 4” (11cm) high, 20” (52 cm) long and 22” (58 cm) wide. However, if space is an issue, this Batwing will also be able to be mounted on a wall. LEGO states that the Batwing is a companion piece for the 1989 Batmobile set released last year. This piece was incredibly popular, and several members of both the the Dark Knight News, and DC Comics News writing teams purchased them.

The level of detail in these models is incredible, and the rare, or sometimes exclusive, mini-figures that come with them make them highly collectible. The fact that this set will include a ‘Bob, the Goon’ figure is totally mind-blowing.

While we know the 1989 Batwing from Lego hits stores on October 21st, pricing has not yet been revealed. Their Batmobile was $250, so I’d expect something around that price point.

Will you be adding the LEGO Batwing to you collection? Let us know!
