The DC FanDome schedule has been revealed, and it looks we’ll be hearing more about The Suicide Squad very soon. On August 22, 2020, at 3PM, The Suicide Squad panel will take place, featuring writer/director James Gunn hosting the event.

Gunn has taken to Twitter to post a 30-second tease for the 30-minute panel:

The teaser appears to show the stars of the movie participating in a video conference. Based on the video, the panel will include, but is not limited to Margot Robbie, Michael Rooker, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi, Flula Borg, Alice Braga, Viola Davis, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Idris Elba, and Jai Courtney. The description reads:

What else would you expect from The Suicide Squad but the ultimate elimination game? First up, writer/director James Gunn takes on fan questions, then brings out Task Force X for a fast-paced, no-holds-barred Squad Showdown that tests every team member’s Squad knowledge — and survival skills! 30 min

First footage?

While it’s going to be incredibly fun to see the cast members struggling with their Skwad trivia, based on the video, I feel like it should have been dedicated to fan questions. I mean, the panel is only 30 minutes, so why not give it to the fans. I suppose they’re trying to limit the amount of info/spoilers that could be extracted from the panel. Though it isn’t mentioned in the description, Gunn did tease both us and the cast members about something special, which is likely to be the first footage or trailer for the flick. Also, did you see Nathan Fillion’s sweet moustache? #moustachegoals

It’s very likely that we could already see footage. As mentioned multiple times already, Gunn managed to wrap filming on the movie before quarantine forced us into our homes, which means that the bulk of the flick is complete. All it requires is post-production, which includes editing, music, and special effects. Gunn has confirmed that he’s continued work on the flick, with no delays expected.

The Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 6, 2021. In the meantime, we’ll have the DC FanDome The Suicide Squad panel to tide us over until then. It takes place on August 22, 2020 at 3PM. Don’t miss it.
