Matt Reeves’ The Batman is now well into production, and we’ve been lucky enough to see the odd set pic leaked on social media. Starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz among others, it promises a whole new take on The Dark Knight. The movie also stars 007’s Felix Leiter actor, Jeffrey Wright, who takes on the role of Detective Jim Gordon.

Wright took to Instagram a few days back, telling followers that “Background reads for the culture. In the beginning…”  Yes it looks like Wright is going all the way back to the beginning for his preparation in to the Jim Gordon character. That’s a lot of reading to get through but nice to know that he’s committed to this new role.

Wright has given away no details about the movie and has done well to do so.  Over the next few weeks however, he’ll be taking part in promotion for the upcoming Season 3 of Westworld, and questions about The Batman and his part in the movie will no doubt arise. Will we find out more? It remains to be seen.

For now, we still have what’s been said by lead actor Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves, who have been open about what they want from the movie.

I for one, am looking forward to the film and to seeing what Jeffrey Wright will bring to the character of Detective Jim Gordon. First though, I’m looking forward to his appearance in the latest James Bond flick, No Time To Die.

The Batman is out in cinemas on June 25th, 2021.
