Zoe Kravitz will play Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ Batman movie.
This will mark the first time we see a live-action Catwoman since Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises. Kravitz will star opposite of Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
Kravitz herself has starred in many film and television projects, including comic book ones. She had major roles in Dope, Mad Max: Fury Road, and HBO’s popular Big Little Lies series. In the comic book realm, she’s played Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class and Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Interestingly, Kravitz is related to many famous celebrities. Her father is popular singer Lenny Kravitz, amusingly Aquaman (Jason Momoa) is her step-father and Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) is her godmother.
Another amusing fact, this is not even her first time playing the role of Catwoman. Zoe Kravitz played the character first as a voice role in The LEGO Batman Movie. Granted, she had zero lines of dialogue beyond “Meow, meow”, but still.
Other Potential Casting News
Previously, Jeffrey Wright and Jonah Hill were rumored to also be the Batman film. Rumors said that Wright will play Commissioner Gordon and Hill will play a villain. However, only Pattinson and now Kravitz are confirmed cast members.
Production on the film will begin in the U.K. in January.
Reeves’ Batman film will hit theaters in 2021.
