Drake Bell Posts Robin Symbol to Twitter Igniting Speculation

Hollywood having access to social media allows them to interact instantly with fans. The news becomes available right away instead of waiting for a periodical to publish days later. Zack Snyder posted photos to Twitter and videos to Vero in anticipation of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. However, it can also be used for evil by teasing the fanbase, causing speculation to spread like wildfire.

In early May, Josh Gad, known for being the voice of Olaf in Frozen and the live-action LeFou in Beauty and the Beast, decided to post a photo of the Penguin to Twitter. Of course, it was believed the tweet meant he was likely cast as Oswald Cobblepot in the upcoming Matt Reeves-helmed Batman solo movie. Though he denied it to MTV, he eventually posted yet another tease with a photo of him posing with Geoff Johns and executive Vice President at WB, Jon Berg.

That Memorable “R”

Now, it looks like the former Nickelodeon star, Drake Bell is following suit. Bell took to Twitter and posted a photo of the Robin symbol with a caption that read, “the Boy Wonder?” He promptly deleted the Tweets, but the Internet is a crafty place where nothing ever disappears. We have screen shots, from the Twitter user @unCAGEDgamez.

Take a look:

Of course, the Internet ignited with speculation about whether this meant that Bell was either interested in the role or already cast. The deletion seems to add more to the mystery. Some folks are already taking that as confirmation, as Bell’s deletion suggests a possible violation of a non-disclosure agreement with WB.

That Robin symbol is the one often sported by Tim Drake. Given that in the DC Extended Universe, a Robin has already been eliminated by the Joker, fans can easily assume that Bell is referring to the Tim Drake. Though personally, I’m of the opinion that that was simply the best image of the Robin symbol Bell could find.

Please be made aware that nothing has been confirmed. Drake Bell simply tweeted something that caught the Internet’s attention. Therefore, please take this with as much salt as you can possibly endure.

Bell is no stranger to superheroes after voicing Spider-Man in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series. The series recently wrapped up in January of this year. And as you can see from his profile photo, he’s working towards the right physique. Having never been a Drake and Josh fan, I can’t vouch for his ability to portray a Robin. Can he possibly be worse than Chris O’Donnell? Probably not.

What do you think? Do you think Drake Bell will be playing a Tim Drake Robin? Or is this just all speculation and nothing more? Let me know.
