Could Justice League redefine the Trinity?

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have another new photo to dissect for the upcoming Justice League movie. Take a look, then continue on for further dissection.

There’s not a lot to go on here. The contrast looks very similar to what we’ve seen so far. There’s a blue-ish tint, matching the tone of the scene between Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen from the footage shown at Comic-Con. Also, it’s Batman teaming up with Wonder Woman and the Flash, a new take on the Trinity perhaps?

The trio of do-gooders are looking up (like the DCEU?), with our Dark Knight taking center and leading the way. Director Zack Snyder is too particular on the lining of his shots to ignore any of this. There’s a reason he’s put these three together, in this setting, in this pose. Or… he just wants to give us something cool to look at.

EW also briefly spoke to Snyder and Miller, with the latter summing up the Flash’s perception of his new teammates.

“Uncle Fish Curry [Aquaman] is very grumpy. Dad [Batman] gets grumpy too. (He’s had a long life of fighting crime.) Wonder Woman is very considerate, so even though she’s annoyed with the Flash, she’s still very compassionate.”

Interesting. Obviously, we haven’t seen the movie and don’t know as much as we think we know about it, but that’s an interesting summary of his teammates. I can see him being the audience’s perception, and the glimmer of hope and happiness we need for the DCEU. However, if he’s just seeing everyone as “grumpy,” that’s not going to bring the change of tone that many have claimed this universe needs.

Only time will tell.

Justice League is set for a November 2017 release.
