What makes up a hero? No, we are not talking about strength and virtue and other goobly gook like that. We are referring to what literally makes up a hero’s insides? Independent studio Mighty Jaxx and Fame Master have teamed up to answer this question in the form of the DC figure Batman 4D XXRay.
Artist Jason Freeny created this half X-Ray version of the Dark Knight, complete with a transparent shell, skeleton, and hand-painted organs. While Freeny has made XXRay versions of other DC Comics heroes in the past, like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash, but they were only 4 inches tall. This iteration of Batman stands at 9.5 inches tall, comes apart, and comes at a proportionally expensive $89.99. It is also sold only through MightyJaxx’s website. Here is an announcement video and images released by Mighty Jaxx.
While some collectors think this is an odd use of money, we like to think of it as an opportunity to have unique play possibilities. You can pretend Batman is now the new Two-Face, with his entire half of his body flayed off. Or you can imagine that you are a half blind Superman who is trying to do a X-Ray vision scan on his fellow Justice League ally. Or you can imagine that Batman is in the process of being transported into the Anti-Matter universe where each individual molecule of his being is unzipped. There are endless possibilities for this toy.
You can pre-order the figure here. It will be released in early 2017.
