Hot on the heels of the announcement that CBS has picked up a Supergirl TV series, The Hollywood Reporter doesn’t intend to give DC fans a chance to catch their breath. In their latest exclusive, they say that WB is moving forward with a Suicide Squad movie. This comes as no surprise, seeing that the team has found recent exposure outside of comics via the hit TV show Arrow and the animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham. Let’s also not forget Deathstroke and Deadshot popping up everywhere these days.

So says The Hollywood Reporter:

The DC property about convicted supervillains who have a chance to redeem themselves through dangerous missions has been in the works for some time at Warner Bros. Marks wrote a script in 2011. Sources say Warner Bros. starting looking for a director earlier in 2014.

David Ayer (Fury) is said to be the candidate to fill the director’s chair and Charles Roven is attached to produce. With WB securing theatrical dates for nine mystery DC Comics films through 2020, I assume we’ll see this sooner rather than later.

No characters have been confirmed or rumored as of this writing. I mentioned Deathstroke and Deadshot earlier and wouldn’t be surprised if one or both make it into this movie. WB won’t confirm or deny the film at this point, so it isn’t a done deal. However, If feel there’s a good chance this movie will happen.
