Batman, Robin, David Hasselhoff and a Giant Smurf Are Heroes For a Day

If you’re wondering whether the title you just read is simply a sarcastic joke, and that this article is really about Batman vs. Superman rumors or something, I can assure you that it’s not. This is the 100%-true story of how a group of people dressed as Batman, Robin, David Hasselhoff and a Smurf became the one-day heroes of Musselburgh, Scotland. Allow me to elaborate.

It started simply as a night out on the town for this band of costumed heroes. They were walking gallantly along Eskeview Road, when suddenly a 21-year-old man jumped out and assaulted the Boy Wonder (Jason Todd, anyone?). The assailant soon found out, however, that he had messed with the wrong peculiarly-clad persons. This incited a chase that ended with a scuffle in the toilet paper aisle of a nearby Tesco store. The incident was later reported on the East Lothian Police’s twitter page (yes, the police have a twitter page). This tweet was posted on November 6th:

 

Followed by this tweet on the 7th:

The assailant was arrested on November 1st, and later pled guilty to attacking the Boy Wonder on the 4th.
