Well…Warner Bros. might be looking at some inspiration from the comic books for their Justice League movie plot. Click the jump to see which comic books.
Well, Will Beall, writer of the Gangster Squad that will be out soon has taken inspiration from Gerry Conway’s 1980 Justice League Of America # 183-185. The three issue story arc involves Darkseid trying to destroy the Earth with a death ray while the Justice League stop him. Here’s a bit more of the story arc’s description:
The annual team-up for the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America begins in this issue. This year the two teams, even with an assist from the New Gods, have their work cut out for them as they take on none other than Darkseid himself! Written by Gerry Conway with art by Dick Dillin and inks by Frank McLaughlin. This issue features Superman,Batman, Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, Powergirl, Mister Miracle, Geoforce, and the the Huntress.
Now, I think we all knew that this Justice League movie would have to use an alien invasion story to get these Justice League members together. Of course, this is also what The Avengers did over the summer with Loki at the helm of the Earth invasion. It’s good to see that Beall is looking for references from the comic books, because there are tons of great resources to pull from. This is where David S. Goyer, Jonathan Nolan, and Christopher Nolan looked to make The Dark Knight Trilogy. Beall is taking the right steps in writing this script, now we just need to see Gangster Squad to critique his work and find out who will direct this movie. After that we are all set to go!
This is purely a rumor, but all this could be true. However, the whole Earth invasion thing is going to be played out by 2015 especially when the Justice League movie will be up against The Avengers 2. This movie is already having a bad taste, and well…all we can do is hope for the best.
