Adam West May not be Done with Batman

With the release of Batman Vs Two-Face on Blu-ray and DVD, several of the stars have been hitting the promotional circuit to talk about the movie. With Adam West sadly passing away earlier this year, a lot of the talk has revolved around this being his swan song as the Caped Crusader.

According to Robin himself, Burt Ward this may not exactly be true. While discussing the movie with Digital Spy, Ward let drop that perhaps we may see West return in some form.

“I don’t know about that. I don’t know about that, but I’m not going to say any more. All I know is I’m not allowed to talk about it. So I’m just saying factually that your statement would not necessarily be correct.”

With West no longer able to provide new dialogue for any future projects, this admission comes as something of a surprise. Is there more of the Adam West Batman on the horizon?

When he was pushed for further details, Ward’s response was a little more coy than his initial response.

“I don’t know what they’re going to do in the future. It all depends on how, from a business standard, the movie does. But I will tell you this: Warner Bros knows exactly what they’re doing. If Warner Bros decides to make another one, or more, who knows what the future holds?”

Can Batman ’66 continue without West?

It is unlikely that Warner Bros has a secret movie sitting in the can waiting for release, but the possibility of unused voice work from alternate takes or deleted scenes is certainly a possibility. We may see a future animated project where Batman takes a backseat for the majority of the movie while Robin and Catwoman take center stage.

Adam West as Batman

The idea of someone else taking over the role is certainly a gamble. There is something about this portrayal of Batman that is unique and the thought of another person stepping into it is almost unthinkable.

Of course, other actors have played Batman over the years but there will only ever be one Adam West.
