Between bombings and finding random swamp towns, Ivy hasn’t had any relaxing time since she was reborn. I highly doubt she will be getting any in Poison Ivy #27 either. So, let’s see if we are right and what chaos awaits us.

The Green Knight… might have a copyright issue

I mean, really? It’s so very clearly ripped off from The Dark Knight, also in what universe would Ivy willingly call herself that? Nope, I call nonsense. G Willow Wilson knows these characters so well by now, and seeing Ivy being in full on sleuth mode is so accurate for her personality. Poison Ivy #27 Let’s see more interactions between Ivy and Janet, which we love. Getting more details about their friendship dynamic and how Janet from HR became such an integral part of Ivy’s life.

Wilson really said “Ivy’s going to moan about not getting a break” even though she is the one writing all of these situations. It’s so meta and hilarious to me. G. Willow Wilson obviously has a long running idea in her head for where she wants Poison Ivy to end up, and I love peeling back the layers slowly in these issues to see if I can figure out the end goal.

Green is a complementary color.

Marcio Takara is pulling out all the stops. Every panel is detailed to a degree that is unreal. I can not comprehend how someone can do so much in such a little time frame. Drawing all of these different locations, foregrounds and backgrounds, with characters being the focal point but not losing any of the details overall. When you mix that with the color work of Arif Prianto you get the most amazing scenery. The shading and tonal shift of locations is major. You can tell where you are in the story without needing any prompting from the characters.

Conclusion

Once again Poison Ivy is out here having major life changes. G. Willow Wilson knows what she is doing, and I love such a strong sense of self that Ivy has been given. Poison Ivy #27 is starting us off on yet another wild journey that I can not wait to be a part of.
