Review by James Attias
Detective Comics #1105 gives us a delve into the backstory of The Lion… Let’s talk about it.
King of The Jungle
So in this issue, we see who The Lion really is.. . We see how he came to be, why he has a grudge against Batman and Gotham. That and so much more… We don’t know why he decided to have a hairstyle and beard that way. Maybe he just wanted people to dislike him. But one thing we do get. One thing that wasn’t something we were expecting. But we didn’t know we needed. And I for one can’t thank Mikel Janin and I assume Tom Taylor enough for… It was the one, the only… The brown/tan suit and yellow shirt combo that Bruce wears in Batman the animated series. I mean do we write a thank you letter? A petition online for some sort of award or recognition. I can’t stress enough how happy I was to see that suit! It was a huge highlight that deserves praise and a solid 15 min standing ovation. If not more.
No Fear
The rest of this issue after I was on cloud nine from THE suit. (Not the super cool anti virus suit that Batman was wearing) The rest was great. Solid origin that didn’t reveal too toooo much. More interestingly it planted a lot of seeds for future and forwarded this story in a big way. I’ve been saying it for years. We need to appreciate Tom Taylor more now. Before we know it he may disappear and start writing indie comics that are not our favorite superheroes. So we appreciate every page while we have it!
Conclusion
Detective Comics #1105 gives us a lot of what we want. But something huge that we didn’t know we needed. Brava team!
