Penguin Random House to Make ‘Kingdom Come’ Audiobook

DC and Penguin Random House Audio announced Kingdom Come as their next project.

The popular book publisher based the audiobook on the critically acclaimed 1996 limited comic book series from Mark Waid and Alex Ross. The series explored the dark future of the DC universe where it has been taken over by violent anti-heroes. BBC radio drama actor Dirk Maggs will adapt the audiobook. Maggs expressed that directing a Kingdom Come audiobook was something of a white whale for him.

“I’ve been adapting and directing multicast, award-winning audiobooks of iconic DC Comics Superman and Batman stories for more than three decades. But among them all, Kingdom Come was always the one that got away. At last, thanks to Penguin Random House Audio, I can tell Mark Waid’s epic story, with Alex Ross’s beautiful artwork brought alive through cinematic sound design combined with James Hannigan’s stirring orchestral score.”

‘Kingdom Come’ Voice Actor Roster

A cast of over thirty actors will join Maggs to bring the epic tale to life. Marc Thompson will reprise his role as Superman from Penguine Random House Audio’ s previous DC adaptation All-Star Superman. Fans may recognize Thompson for his roles in Star Wars audiobooks, Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and other projects.

Filling out the main cast include  Glenn Wrage as Batman/Bruce Wayne; Lorelei King as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince; Kerry Shale as The Spectre/Jim Corrigan; William DeMeritt as Billy Batson; Edoardo Ballerini as Norman McCay; Garrick Hagon as Wesley Dodds; Tom Alexander as Magog; John Chancer as UN Secretary Wyrmwood; and Ray Porter as Lex Luthor.

Other voice actors include Nezar Alderazi, Jennifer Armour, Karen Bartke, Laurence Bouvard, Torian Brackett, Reba Buhr, E.A. Castillo, Joe Duley, Vas Eli, Ashleigh Haddad, David Holt, David Lee Huynh, JD Jackson, January LaVoy, Laurel Lefkow, Tim Lounibos, Theo Maggs, Alan Marriott, Eric Meyers, Kai Christian Mortiz, Harry Myers, and Martin Sherman.

Additionally, the audiobook provides its own original music and sound effects, making it the most insane, epic project for DC and Penguin Random House to date.

Kingdom Come audiobook goes on sale November 18, 2025.
