Detective Comics #1090 is here and it could not come soon enough! I have been waiting for this issue for the last 2 years! Let’s Go!

Taylor Made

After two absolutely legendary runs on Nightwing and Titans. Tom Taylor has moved on to this title: Detective Comics. Which has desperately needed a change in my very bitter and biased opinion. Reading this issue was a treat. It felt like a good old fashioned Batman title again. We have new characters, glimpses of the past. The most prominent Thomas Wayne Mustache I’ve seen in years. What’s not to love?!
The story has three time settings, distant past, present and near future. All giving us mysteries and questions to keep us guessing on what’s going on. We see Thomas Wayne in his position as a Doctor/Surgeon. We see Batman in the present day wondering if he still has what it takes – just to note this element of the story which will 100% grow from here. And it Is going to be an absolute gut punch for middle aged Dark Knight News reviewers who are currently feeling the sands of time.

Who? When? Why? How?

Being the first story for the new creative team, we are left with a bunch of questions following this issue. And due to the No Spoiler laws of the old and new gods I can’t bring up all of my questions, but I can write them with sensored parts…. Who was that SPOILER SPOILER? Is Bruce’s old SPOILER really the new SPOILER? Is this too close to the story about SPOILER and his long lost SPOILER? I’ll ask all these questions next month once you’ve all read this issue… And I can’t stress enough how much you should all read this issue.
The art from Mike Janin was glorious, so much mystery, some new characters, Thomas Wayne’s ultra mustache. Paired with Tom Taylor’s writing. This really is a match made in heaven, and seeing Batman fight an unseen foe in the first few pages was awesome!

Conclusion

Detective Comics #1090 is a kick ass Batman book that leaves you begging for more, with wonderful art and a great new direction!
