Review by Fay Clark

We left these amazing women fighting a goddess/demon on Themyscira. Honestly, how could you not want to know what comes next, in Birds of Prey #6?

If you haven’t been reading this series, what are you thinking?!? This has to be one of the best ongoing series there is right now.

Well, that’s… Wild!

Kelly Thompson, what are you doing to me? This is insane! Every time I read a new issue in this series, my love for the writer and these characters increases. This latest issue is the definition of how amazing comics writing can be.

Honestly, this title is such a pleasure to read and review. The characters all have their own styles and are so individual. Thompson really brings out the best in them and it feels like it must be so much fun for her to be able to write for so many kick-ass ladies. The dialogue and interactions never seem stale or forced, everything flows so well.

The second half of this book is MADNESS! My mouth was on the floor and I still don’t think I have recovered as this issue closes off of the Megadeath arc and I have no idea how, why, or what just happened. I would 100% recommend this series to any new starters into the comic world. Kelly Thompson’s writing is a gateway drug, that’s for sure.

Shrouded in Mystery

There are so many things going on in every panel and Leonardo Romero really had his work cut out for him. When you mix that with the color work of Jordie Bellaire, you get some truly mind-boggling imagery. There are several scenes halfway through the issue that are swirling vortexes of talent.

I don’t know how long it takes Romero to create and Bellaire to color, but it’s worth every second in my opinion. Their work adds so much to the story. Jordie’s gorgeous color pallet of slightly sepia-toned color is still so “old school” and works so well with the story. I would be interested to see if that’s set to continue in the next arc.

Conclusion

I don’t even know how to feel right now as I’m so in love with this series. There is so much detail in every panel and line of Birds of Prey #6. This team has created a series that will last for a very long time as one of the best runs of this series ever. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series, as there is one heck of a setup for the next arc!

Keep it coming!!!
