DC Livestream Reveals ‘Bad Seeds’ Tie-In Art

In a unique method, DC Comics unveiled more cover art from the upcoming Batman and Poison Ivy “Bad Seeds” crossover.

DC hosted a three-hour-long live-streaming event on June 17th that featured an unusually idillic Gotham City rooftop with the Bat-Signal. On the giant television screen, the live stream unveiled various cover art for “Bad Seeds” tie-in comics.

New Releases for ‘Bad Seeds’

In the first round, DC announced a new wave of first issues. They will revive Batman Bad Seeds: Gotham Central with the creative team of Christopher Cantwell and Jacob Phillips. Old fans may recall the original Gotham Central series that focused on the Gotham Police Department reacting to various Batman foes and allies. However, now the GCPD is completely changed. James Gordon is demoted to just a beat cop and Vandal Savage is the commissioner. Check out the official description.

Is this the last stand for the only good cops left in Gotham City?

A killer is on the loose, someone is stalking Arkham Towers’ Dr. Zeller, the subways are out of control, and Anarky’s just pulled a big-time heist! With Vandal Savage diverting the GCPD’s resources to his single-minded war against the Bats and the Bat-Family trying to stop Poison Ivy while evading the GCPD, there’s almost no one left to do actual police work! Looks like officers Gordon and Espinoza have their work cut out for them.

Speaking of returning titles, “Bad Seeds” is reviving Batman Bad Seeds: Streets of Gotham, where the focus was on building lore for Gotham City. The new Streets of Gotham is written by Matt Fraction and Mariko Tamaki.

Up next, the live stream announced Batman Bad Seeds: Gotham General by Greg Rucka  and Rosa Ekedal. This series is focused on the medical hospital staff reacting to the events of “Bad Seeds”.

DC Comics is pleased to introduce you to the staff of Gotham General. No capes, no costumes, and don’t call them heroes-this is their job.

Power is out, fires are burning, transpo is shot, and the calls just keep coming. There are more patients than beds, half presenting with respiratory complications, the other half suffering hallucinogenic psychotic episodes. In every other emergency department in the DCU, this would be a catastrophe.

For Dr. Ava Dastur and the men and women working at General, it’s a Tuesday.

DC Comics is pleased to introduce you to the staff of Gotham General. No capes, no costumes, and don’t call them heroes—this is their job.

Finally, they will release Batman Bad Seeds: Sunrise by Fraction and Tamaki with Art by Carmine Di Giandomenico. This will serve as an epilogue to the whole event.

Other ‘Bad Seeds Tie-ins

The event spans 10 weeks in real-time, but takes place over the course of one very long night in the story line. Throughout the treacherous 10 weeks, various other currently-running titles will tie=into the event. This includes: Batgirl #23, Nightwing #142, Catwoman #91, Batwoman #7, Harley Quinn #66, and Detective Comics #1113.

“Bad Seeds” starts on August 26th with Poison Ivy #47.
