The Penguin #5 is out this week, and it should be on everyone’s Christmas list! This is an absolute gem of an issue, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough. If this is your first issue of King’s run on The Penguin then you’ve been missing out!
A Royal Spider
Tom King, take a bow, sir… this is how you write a comic book. The issue’s filled with glorious story and dialogue from cover to cover. It’s slick, seamless, and honestly one of the best-written comics I’ve ever read. Yes… I said ever. We’re even treated to new characters, as well as seeing the gang together from previous issues.
Black Spider’s given his The Penguin debut this issue, and let me tell you he’s immediately my favorite new character. King delivers such a heartwarming and emotional story for him. The artwork from Rafael De Latorre is top-notch in this issue too, everything from the goons to Spider’s costume is just grade A.
Conclusion
The Penguin #5 is a pretty spoiler-heavy issue, and I don’t want to give anything away. Let’s just say we’re treated to more insight into Cobblepot’s plans, and how things are being run by his children in Gotham currently.
I honestly cannot rave enough about this issue without getting into a lot of the details of the story. Just please, I implore you, pick up this month’s issue!
