McFarlane Toys Unleashes Batman Santa

It maybe October, but McFarlane Toys is ready to spread some yuletide cheer with Gold Label Batman Santa figures.

McFarlane Toys released images of Batman Santa action figures. It actually comes in a red suit for the traditional Christmas colors or blue- if you skew more towards Batman’s colors. Is it a variant color scheme or actually two different aspects of Santa Bats’ personalities that split into a red and a blue being? You decide!

Batman Santa is the McFarlane Toys standard 7 inches tall with 22 points of articulation. He comes with a comic art print and stand, figure stand, and a toy bag. The art print and toy bag are painted to match the respective blue and red color schemes.

What is especially hilarious is despite the merry looking Batman and a festive art print, the official toy description mentions none of that. Instead collectors are treated to the DARK and EDGY retelling of Batman’s origin.

As a child, BRUCE WAYNE watched as his parents were brutally killed in GOTHAM CITY’S Crime Alley. Traumatized by their deaths, he devoted his life to becoming the world’s greatest weapon against crime – the BATMAN! To become the ultimate vigilante, the Dark Knight disciplined his mind and body to reach the pinnacle of mental and physical superiority in his relentless pursuit of justice!

It is completely out of tone with the rest of the toy. However it is funny to see phrases like “brutally killed” or “traumatized by their deaths” to describe a figure where Batman is wearing a custom Santa-Bat utility belt. Personally, it evokes memories of that one Christmas story where Batman retells his parent’s death to a clearly exasperated Santa Superman.

Incidentally, “Yes, Tyrone, there is a Santa Claus” is available in 2007’s DCU Infinite Holiday Special in case people are curious.

In any case, there is no firm release date for these Batman Santa figures yet. However, they are now available for pre-order. You can pre-order the blue one here and the red variant here.
