Knight Terrors: Titans #1 is one of my favorite titles so far, from the spooky two-month event! Let’s dive into the Tower that fear built!

Terror Tower

I was wondering how DC would write this book, as some of the core members of the team have their own Nightmares to worry about (see my review of Nightwing’s scary night here).

We start the issue with a young lady emerging from what feels like her own grave, although it’s unclear who she is. She has dark-ish hair, could it be Donna Troy? At a push, it could even be Raven. Eventually, we learn she isn’t exactly sure where she is, or what is going on herself.

Luckily for her (and us), she has a voice in her head guiding her on what to do and where to go. This book wasn’t like the other titles coming out for Knight Terrors, as this one felt like the team was united. Unlike every other book that features an evil dream version of someone that you’d think of as an ally. So, why is the team united here? Exactly whose nightmare are we in?

Jumping The Green Shark

This event thus far has done a good job of being weird, and different from the usual end-of-the-world/galaxy/universe/reality threats. When you’re sleeping or dreaming, you’re very isolated. Has this issue (you’ll understand what I mean when you read the last page) finally gone one step too far?

In a dream/nightmare, the only limitations are your own imagination. Fine; that works for me and for the story. I guess what I’m trying to get at is a cyborg, changeling, alien princess, an Amazon made of clay, and the daughter of a demon… yes, all this I can believe, but the final page of this issue… not so much. Am I just being pedantic? Let me know.

Conclusion

Knight Terrors: Titans #1 was fun, well-paced, and different enough that it wasn’t tedious reading another book in this event. I can’t express how worried I am about the next issue though. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Images Courtesy Of DC Entertainment
