Sideshow Collectibles and New Zealand Mint have released a 1oz silver coin dedicated to Batman #1 (1940), and is the latest addition to the action-packed COMIX Coin Series.

Made from 1oz of pure silver, this iconic collectible displays a colored image of the cover of Batman’s first self-titled comic, released in March 1940. To mimic the comic book,  the coin’s crafted into a rectangular shape and colored on all four sides to represent the spine and pages. On the obverse is the Public Seal of Niue, to confirm it as a legal tender coin with a two dollar denomination.

A custom-designed outer box houses the coin and includes a large display window for display. Printed on the box is a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the mintage of only 5,000. The measurements of the coin are – Height: 1.77″ (4.5 cm) and Width: 1.24″ (3.1 cm).

Batman #1 was the debut issue of the solo series featuring Batman. It was published on April 25th, 1940 by DC Comics (then known as National Comics) and also contains the first appearances of The Joker, Batman’s famed arch-nemesis, along with fellow nemesis and main Love Interest Catwoman. It also contains a reprint of Batman’s origin story from Detective Comics #33.

The Batman #1 coin is limited to two purchases per person and is now available to order from Sideshow Collectibles. The coins are expected to ship two to four weeks after an order is placed.
