‘The Suicide Squad’ Runtime Reportedly Revealed

There are only two months until James Gunn gifts DC fans with a movie that we deserve. Is it just me or does it feel like no matter how much time passes, we’ll always be far away from The Suicide Squad? Have I mentioned that TSS is likely the movie I’m most looking forward to this year? In the meantime, I’m just eating up all the news that I can find surrounding it. For instance, a few days ago, The Suicide Squad runtime was supposedly revealed recently.

Watching all the clips and trailers so far for TSS, I was expecting a fairly long runtime. With any Task Force X story, we can expect the structure to start with a brief introduction to Amanda Waller, the mission, and the team before we launch into the adventure. Considering all that happens in the trailer, the many post-credits scenes, and so many characters to cover, I was fully expecting a very long movie at least 2 1/2 hours long. Well, a rumor surfaced a few days ago from a now-deleted Tweet. The fairly unreliable, unknown source claimed that The Suicide Squad runtime would be 2 hours and 12 minutes. Overall, it’s a pretty respectable runtime. It’s not unreasonably long while still being able to tell a satisfying story.

Adding more credibility to this rumor, it’s right in line with James Gunn’s other comic book flicks. Guardians of the Galaxy clocked in at 2 hours and 5 minutes, while its sequel ran a little longer at 2 hours and 18 minutes. TSS would land right in the middle. Personally, it’s just not enough for me and I’m kind of upset that I found out so early. You have to appreciate the sacrifices I make as your faithful journalist.

However, remember that salt is a necessity for these unconfirmed news stories. This was randomly revealed on Twitter in a now-deleted Tweet. So there’s not a whole lot of credibility.

What do you think of the supposed The Suicide Squad runtime? Is it a reasonable length for a comic book movie? Let me know.

The Suicide Squad hits theatres and HBO Max in the US on August 6, 2021.
