Zack Snyder Confirmed Completion of the #SnyderCut, Synopsis Unveiled

Ever since the #SnyderCut was announced, fanboys have been desperate to see Zack Snyder’s vision of Justice League. In May last year, when the #SnyderCut was officially announced, no release date was given. On Friday, the moment finally came. We learned the official release date is March 18, 2021. Along with that news, Snyder also confirmed the completion of the #SnyderCut.

After dropping the release date, Snyder posted a photo to his Vero. It was a quick shot of the end credits to the #SnyderCut, calling out Director of Photography Fabian Wagner. The post thanked Wagner for his work. However, the real news comes from the comments. In case you weren’t aware, Snyder remains an incredibly active presence on Vero and interacts with fans constantly. Almost in disbelief, one fan asked if the #SnyderCut was done. Snyder succinctly replied, “it is.”

It’s done.

While it’s not out of the ordinary for films to be completed in advance of their release date, it is, however, significant given the context. After Snyder left the movie, it seemed like he would never be able to realize his vision for JL. Thankfully, nearly four years after the theatrical release, he’s confirmed completion of the #SnyderCut, a film I once called a myth. Congrats to Zack Snyder and everyone involved. It must be deeply satisfying for him to finally see his vision come to life.

Following the big announcement, Warner Bros. released a synopsis for the #SnyderCut:

“In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid

It’s interesting to read how different this movie will be compared to the one we got. Based on the first trailer, it’s clear that Cyborg and the Flash both had backstories that were obviously cut. Considering the fact that JL was supposed to be two movies, you’ve gotta marvel at just how badly Warner Bros. hacked at them to make one flick. (Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate what we got, but it was deeply flawed.) Then, there’s Batman’s unexplored history with Robin and Joker and of course, a conclusion to Batman’s Knightmare vision. Lots of stuff.

And lastly, two things that will certainly hype up DC fans, the mention of DeSaad and Darkseid. In case you need a refresher, DeSaad is Darkseid’s chief torturer and one of his top lieutenants leading the army of Parademons. Darkseid is Steppenwolf’s nephew, the ruler of Apokolips, and one of the most powerful beings in the DC universe.

We’ll finally be able to see the backstory of each Leaguer and see them take on Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (they finally settled on a name!) when it hits HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
