The Penguin is rumored to be the villain in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
In a recent report from We Got It Covered, Oswald Cobblepot is allegedly “One of the main antagonists” in the film. Furthermore, the article hints that Reeves “Specifically requested” that Penguin not be featured in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn). It should be noted that this report is from an anonymous source.
This rumor certainly lines up with other reports. Specifically Frozen actor Josh Gad has hinted several times at wanting the role. On social media, Gad has repeatedly posted images of the Penguin with no accompanying captions.
Most recently, Gad posted a gif of Burgess Meredith’s Penguin on his Twitter feed with the similarly cryptic caption: “Good knight”

The Batman Rumor Mill
Meanwhile, fan speculation is running wild on what is going on. It was recently confirmed that the movie will start filming in November 2019. Reeves has claimed that the script is is still in development and people aren’t sure if Ben Affleck will return as Batman.
