Batfleck’s Moment of Profanity in ‘Batman v Superman’

There’s a moment in the third trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where we see Batfleck’s plane crash. In that moment, we see Doomsday bearing down on him, seemingly about to unleash hell on the Caped Crusader. Batfleck looks up and nearly utters an expletive before the trailer cuts away.

If you’ve seen the movie, then you know that Batfleck actually says the entire word. It makes for a pretty funny moment in both the trailer and the movie. EW spoke with Batfleck and accordingly, that moment was not in the script.

Batfleck explains:

“I just improv’d that. I had a feeling that it would work and that it would be funny. I improvised and I talked to Zack about it and I think this will really work because you don’t expect it – and because it’s Batman, and at that moment he is so incredibly overmatched.”

Although Bats normally doesn’t cuss, Batfleck believes that it humanized Batman and made him seem more realistic. I know I’ve uttered that and another more taboo word when faced with a situation that can be that scary or unexpected.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is out now in theatres everywhere.
