DC Comics Solicitations for February 2014 for the Bat-fan

DC has released their full solicitations for February 2014 on Monday afternoon. Dark Knight News readers, I have collected all the relevant Bat-related info for you.

Forever Evil still dominates the DCU for several more months. Forever Evil #6 teases the “Final Fate of Nightwing.” Regular readers know that I’ve been terrified of DC getting rid of my second favorite character. Fingers-crossed he makes it out of this alive and gets to celebrate his 75th anniversary next year. This issue also reveals who the hooded man being held by the Crime Syndicate is.

Forever Evil Arkham War #5 by my favorite bat-scribe, Peter Tomasi has venom-empowered Arkham escapees vs. Bane. This should be a knock out, drag out fight for the fate of a defenseless Gotham City.

Batman #28 is the penultimate chapter to the Dark Knight’s New 52 origin. This retelling had me worried early on, but I won’t doubt this character defining dynamic duo of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo any longer.

Die Happy! Gothtopia continues in Detective Comics #28, Birds of Prey #28, Batwing #28, Catwoman #28 and Batgirl #28. What is going on? More clues are revealed.

Batman and Two-Face #28 concludes the current arc with the villain, the hero and the person responsible for Harvey’s tragic fate fighting together for their lives. I love me some Tomasi, Gleason and Gray comics.

Justice League 3000 #3 has Batman and company banished to a planet wide penal colony. With how amazing Howard Porter’s art has looked, that’s reason alone to pick up this issue.

Batman/Superman #8 is part of a two-part crossover event with World’s Finest #20. Batman and Superman finally team up with Power Girl and Huntress. This could be sowing the seeds of the inevitable JLA/JSA crossover. With Bruce so recently losing a son, how is he going to react to meeting his daughter (all be it, from a parallel Earth).

Batman vs. Superman for the fate of Earth 2. In Earth 2 #20, The Dark Knight leads a group that includes Red Tornado (Lois Lane) and Hawkgirl against the plans of the Man of Steel. Tom Taylor knows this dynamic really well (Injustice) and he’s got Barry Kitson (Azrael) on art for this one.

Batman pops up in Superman Unchained #7 to team up with Wonder Woman and Superman to take on Wraith. I always look forward to seeing Jim Lee pencil Bruce and with Scott Snyder on board writing this series, it should be a must pick up for any bat-fan.

Beware the Batman #5 is the only place I can get a fix of the show (thanks a lot Cartoon Network) and it’s written by one of my favorite bat-writers from the 80’s, Mike W. Barr (Batman: Year Two, Fear the Reaper).

You’ve also got Nightwing #28, Batwoman #28, Batman: Joker’s Daughter #1 (one shot), Batman: Dark Knight #28, Harley Quinn #3, Talon #16 (with new writer Tim Seeley), Red Hood and the Outlaws #28, the last issue of Batman: Black and White #6, Scribblenauts Unmasked #2, Batman ’66 #8, Batman Beyond Universe #7, Batman: Lil’ Gotham #11, and Injustice Year Two #2 hitting the comic stands February,

Trades and hardcover collections of note for the Bat-fan include: Justice League Vol. 4: the Grid HC, Batman/Superman Vol. 1: Cross World HC, Batwoman Vol. 4: This Blood is Thick TP, Batwoman Vol. 3: World’s Finest TP, Earth 2 Vol. 3: War HC,
Batman ’66 Vol. 1 HC, Catwoman Vol. 3: Under Pressure TP, Justice League Beyond: In Gods We Trust TP, Batman: Bruce Wayne-Murderer? TP New Edition, DC Comics Presents: Harley Quinn #1, and Harley Quinn: Welcome to Metropolis TP.
It’s a light month for DC Batman Collectibles (gives me time to recuperate my funds). Batman Arkham Origins adds a 10” Killer Croc to the line and the Black and White line of statues adds a Bruce Timm designed Harley Quinn.
