Marketing. It’s so boring and tedious and it sucks but how else are you supposed to put your work out there and earn from it. With WB putting in overtime with all of their properties to play catchup with you know who, it comes as no surprise that we should see more games based on DC characters. Time Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara had these things to say about its future in video games when questioned recently at a convention.
“We are by far the biggest – probably the only studio that’s making money on the game side like this. It’s a business that we’ve built from scratch with some acquisition but we have really three key franchises to date. It’s the local franchise, it’s the Mortal Kombat franchise, and it’s the Arkham of Batman franchise, those three are very significant…but we are on track to having a great year in games and we feel very good about where that’s going….the new franchises that we are going to be zoning are going to be DC franchises. We think there is big opportunities to build off of what we are doing throughout the rest of the company in games as well. ”
As awesome as the LEGO games might be, I’m still looking forward to a GOOD solo Superman video game via Arkham style. Or maybe it would be done some justice with the boys who did the Rouge Squad Star Wars games, now that would be awesome. Or how about a game that would be GTA style with everyones favorite clown? Come on Tsujihara, I know your reading this, I’ve got good ideas, give me a call. Lets do lunch.
