Despite my huge disappointment in the WB’s decision, I guess I didn’t quite soak up just how much EVERYONE hated the idea of Ben Affleck playing as Batman. But according to CNet, there’s already over seventy-five thousand people that have signed a petition to remove him from the movie.
There’s a list of reasons on this petition, too. It’s not just, “Hey, I hate his face, take him away.” A couple of the reasons are his performance in Daredevil, his lack of intimidation, and the fact that he can’t carry a movie by himself. As we all know, playing Batman is a heavy load to carry. You can’t just don the cape and cowl and expect to be given mass amounts of respect. You need to own the role, the personality, and yourself before you step in front of that camera.
John Roden, the man that started this online petition on Change.org, added:
“I would like to add that this petition was not meant in any way to harm Ben Affleck or his career. I respect Affleck’s work, I just feel he is inappropriate for the role.”
