While DC is working on building the DC Extended Universe with their live-action film slate, let us not forget that they’ve been doing a great job in the original animated film scene for just about a decade. Starting with Superman: Doomsday in 2007, DC and Warner Bros Animation have been making direct-to-video, PG-13 (with a few exceptions) animated films that range from single hero stories, to giant team ups.
While some of these films have been straight up adaptations of famous stories from the pages of DC Comics, most of them only take inspiration from famous stories and create their own original story with them.
The next film up on the slate is Justice League Dark, which is due for HD Digital Release on January 24, and will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD on February 7. When a mystery pops up that goes beyond the reaches of the Justice League, Batman looks to the strange, mystical, and supernatural for help by recruiting John Constatine, Zatanna, Deadman, and Etrigan the Demon.
In the following clip, Batman visits Zatanna for help, only to be possessed by Deadman, while trying to find Constantine.
