Well, I didn’t think we would be here. Cas is under some mind control thing and everything is chaotic. I’m hoping the Birds can make everything better in Birds of Prey #17.

Feisty Fighting Females

We all know that the Birds of Prey are a fantastic fighting force, but Kelly Thompson really said… let’s make SURE they all know it. I mean going up again Amazon’s even brain washed ones is a whole other league of WHOA! Thompson is really pulling out all the stops for this series and I love it.

Once again we see an amazing bond between Barda and Batgirl. Thompson has seemed to zero in on these two and their connection. You will hear no complaints from me. The whole scene in Birds of Prey #17 with them is lovely, and heartwarming. They seem to understand each other with little to no words needed. That’s true writing talent on part of Kelly Thompson.

Letters through the Haze

Clayton Cowles has impressed me again with the lettering in Birds of Prey #17. There are so many ways to get across that Cas was under mind control, and the artistry and lettering was perfect to show this. Sami Barsi, Vincente Cifuentes and Adriano Lucas have all shown up and said “challenge accepted”. I’m saying “challenge successful”. The weird lettering really adds to the already strange visuals that we have going on and it all equals something off-putting but great to look at.

Conclusion

Every time I read this series I fall more in love with the characters and the connections they have. Kelly Thompson really pulls at your heart strings. Birds of Prey #17 is no different. Now that this arch is finished I have no idea where we are going next, but I am hoping to see some of the old team members come back!
