‘Batman: The Knight’ Will Detail Bruce Wayne’s Training Years

DC Comics is releasing a new mini-series, Batman: The Knight, which will explore the period between the Wayne murders and the first appearance of Batman. Writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico will cover the surprisingly fertile ground of Bruce Wayne training to become a crime fighter.

Is ‘Batman: The Knight’ a Retread?

Despite Batman’s 80+ years of publishing, there never has been a definitive story of Bruce’s exploits traveling around the world training. There have been short stories. There have been many references to his training in various comics over the years, and most recently the Ghost-Maker character was introduced to canon as a crime-fighting rival from Bruce’s training era. One of the most notable versions of Bruce’s training was depicted in the 2005 film Batman Begins.

This mini-series will be the first to depict Bruce’s training in a full-on story. Hopefully, Zdarsky will incorporate all of the various accounts into one concise narrative.
