Review by James Attias
Detective Comics #1101 is infectious, it’s contagious, it’ll be with you for 2-4 weeks. Let’s dive in and discuss the symptoms.
Cold Like Hell
This issue kicks off the highly anticipated new story arc in Detective Comics. This arc has been teased for the last month or so across the other DC books, so going into the last page stinger had been almost ruined in the tease, which reminded me how much I hate hate hate when Movie trailers finish with the closing shot of the film. DO NOT F*&^%king DO THAT!
We see our Dark Knight investigating a ghost ship in the middle of a cold night. Seeing Batman being a badass who trained his body and mind to superhuman levels is still so cool, and makes me feel like a kid again. But I was quickly brought back to my near middle aged reality when things started to get icky.
Highly Infectious
As a kick off for the new story (of which a lot has already been revealed) teasers, previews, even Tom Taylor has shown off a smidge more than I’d like. It was all about setting the tone of the story to come in this issue. The art was fantastic. The writing was as always amazing. And most importantly it was engaging as hell. I couldn’t put it down. Even if the shocks were taken away by marketing, I walked away from this issue, giddy and eager to tell all my nerd friends about it. That’s all we can ever ask for!
Conclusion
Detective Comics #1101 is a thriller and a mystery that I’ve caught and don’t want a cure to!
