The Eisner Awards nominations are out with DC having some of the most nominations, including for Absolute Batman and the other DC titles.

Fantagraphics and DC Comics are the top two most nominated publishers. Fantagraphics earned 24 nominations and DC earned 10 nominations.

Both Main DC Comics and ‘Absolute’ Eisner Nominations

There is a surprising amount of Batman representation in the nominations too. Detective Comics received a nomination for “Best Continuing Series”.

The other big nomination includes Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman being recognized for “Best New Series”.

We also see some recognition for limited series, like Batman and Robin: Year One. Illustrator Hayden Sherman received a nomination for”Best Cover Artist”. It was in recognition for his work on Absolute Wonder Woman and Batman: Dark Patterns. Additionally, “Best Coloring” and “Best Lettering” went to Matheus Lopes and Clayton Cowles respectively.

Former and Current ‘Batman’ Creators Recognized

Creator nominations also included a lot of both former and current Batman writers and artists. “Best Writer” nominations included former-Batman writers Tom King and James Tynion IV, Detective Comics writer Ram V, and Absolute Wonder Woman writer Kelly Thompson. “Best Penciller/ Inker” went to Absolute Batman‘s artist Nick Dragotta.

Finally, there was some recognition for the collected reprints. IDW’s Batman Year One Artist’s Edition received nominations for “Best Archival Collection” and “Best Publication Design”.

Overall, not a bad show for Batman, the Absolute comics line, and DC Comics in general.

The 2025 Eisner Award ceremony will be held at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25th.
