“Worlds Without End” – Part Four

We always leave the girls on a cliffhanger, and last issue wasn’t any different. Massive dinosaur fight incoming. Birds of Prey #12 should hopefully start to wrap up some of the plot points in this arc as it is part four out of five. Let’s see what mayhem the Birds get into.
Well… that was easy
Kelly Thompson has been a true master at writing in plot points, some that even all back to the first issues in this run. Yet, somehow I feel as if one of the major plot points to resolve was just… really easy. Very anticlimactic, in my view. This might be the first time I feel let down by Kelly’s writing. Honestly not sure what to do. The rest of Birds Of Prey #12 was as outstanding as normal. The character dialogue and conversations were on top form again.
We finally get to see more of Cassandra Cain being a boss. Her ability to read emotions in people and help comfort them, adds another layer of empathy to her character that most writers don’t explore enough. We also get to see Cass being a leader in the group and taking on a more strategic role in Birds of Prey #12. Thompson has always managed to truly embody these ladies and their personalities.
Chibi cuteness
Once again we have a larger group of artists contributing to Birds of Prey #12. Javier Pina and Gavin Guidry have worked on the series before, so it is always nice to see them come back for more. Sophie Campbell is a new name we have yet to have on the series, but you can tell with the change of art style when she starts working on what pages. I love that with every portal, we get a new style and a new artist. The color work by Jordie Bellaire mixes super well with Sophie’s art style. It’s all bright colors and cute imagery.
Conclusion
I found this issue to be a little bit rocky, although Kelly Thompson is still a great writer, it was a little jarring the way certain things were rushed to a conclusion. It just seemed a little lacking to me, after everything the ladies had been through.
