Waller vs. Wildstorm #3 is out now, and Jackson King is not going down without a fight. Having built up his case against Waller, King puts it into action, as Battalion!

A Stroke Away From Death

Enter DC’s most deadly mercenary, and husband to Checkmate’s own Adeline Wilson; Deathstroke! On a mission to take out King and the reporter he was seen talking to, Slade does what he does best. Determined to finish his mission, Deathstroke involves civilians and makes the fight a lot more public than Waller and Checkmate want.

During this climactic fight, we’re treated to a trip down memory lane. King interviews Wilson about an individual named Katrina Cupertino. The same person that Lois Lane is inquiring about in this issue too. Cupertino though, as we find out isn’t what, or who she is appears to be. The previous owner of the Cybernary device, Cupertino got caught up in Checkmate’s plans and paid the ultimate price for it.

Conclusion

Ackerman and Narcisse turn up the heat in Waller vs. Wildstorm #3, in more ways than one. Starting the issue with Battalion’s crusade against Waller, and finishing it with Lois is a wonderful way to book-end the issue. Once again, Cifuentes does a great job throughout the majority of this comic. The tension between characters can be felt from the very pages. Merino is a fine addition to the team, I couldn’t even tell there were different artists working on it!
