‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ Was Kevin Conroy’s Final Project

The video game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has released a new clip that confirms that it features Kevin Conroy’s last speaking role as Batman.

As we know, Conroy, who played Batman consistently across multiple projects, passed away last month, but now it’s been confirmed that he recorded lines for Batman in the upcoming Kill the Justice League video game. As it turned out, this was to be his final performance.

The trailer itself is more of a cinematic from the game. There’s no real context, but we start off with Task Force X – Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang – running and hiding in a warehouse. The team’s apparently defeated the Flash, who’s so weak that he cannot even support himself. They go into a secret, dark lair where Captain Boomerang decides now is a good time to end the defenseless Flash.

However, before he can do anything, a security guard runs out only to be taken by a shadowy figure. Since Harley’s familiar with Batman’s stealth tactics, she tells the other members not to “sweat it” since Batman does not kill.

Except, then Batman drops the guy and comes out to click a controller that…

The clip blacks out from there, but we get a voiceover from Kevin Conroy, saying his most iconic line:

“I am vengeance, I am the night. I. AM. BATMAN!”

The trailer ends with a brief and heartfelt message: “Thank you, Kevin.”

‘Thank you, Kevin’

While Conroy’s death is still reverberating through fandom, there’s some small comfort in knowing that we will be able to hear his voice one last time. It’s nice to know that he was still working as the definitive voice of the Dark Knight, right up until his death. Hopefully, the game will be able to pay tribute to Conroy, since his performance was one of the biggest reasons for Batman’s success today.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches May 26, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
