First Look at Jensen Ackles’ Bruce Wayne in ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’

Warner Bros. recently released a short clip from the upcoming animated film Batman: The Long Halloween Part One, showing the iconic scene in which Alistair Duncans’ Alfred, in all his sassiness, teases Jensen Ackles’ Bruce Wayne about his dislike of Halloween. This moment takes place, of course, on said holiday, before Gotham’s villains put their surprisingly ingenious plans into action.

Inspired by the iconic mid-1990s DC story from Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One begins as a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen (Police Captain James Gordan and District Attorney Harvey Dent) in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family.

 

When more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that, instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer – the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.

Jensen Ackles IS Batman

Who would have thought that when Jensen Ackles photographed a cosplay photoshoot as Batman all those years ago, he would one day get to say “I’m Batman” and it would be completely true? A little bit of foreshadowing maybe, or he already knew by then and was giving us sneaky hints, because he posted that photoset on the 31st of October 2019, with the caption:

Ackles is no stranger to the superhero genre, having voiced Jason Todd/Red Hood in the 2010 animated movie Under The Red Hood, with many people wanting him to reprise the role again years later. Ackles is also currently staring in season three of the Amazon Prime show, The Boys, as the parody of Marvel’s Captain America named Soldier Boy. Nothing has been leaked about his character or suit just yet, so we may need to wait until it’s released to see that masterpiece. 

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One stars Jensen Ackles as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Naya Rivera as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Billy Burke as James Gordon, Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone, David Dastmalchian as Calendar Man, Troy Baker as Joker, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon, Julie Nathanson as Gilda Dent, Jack Quaid as Alberto, Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy and Alastair Duncan as Alfred, along with Frances Callier, Greg Chun, Gary Leroi Gray and Jim Pirri.

The film is set to arrive on June 22nd.
