The upcoming Harley Quinn animated series has found its Catwoman. Sanaa Lathan has confirmed that she will be voicing Selina Kyle.

Making the announcement during the American Black Film Festival, Lathan declined to give any further details about the role, merely confirming the casting.

Lathan is no stranger to comic-book related roles, as she played the mother of the titular character in 1998’s Blade. She’s perhaps best known for her leading role in Alien vs Predator.

DC’s animated series will follow Harley’s adventures after her break up with the Joker, and will see Kaley Cuoco voicing Ms. Quinn.Joining Sanaa Lathan on Harley Quinn are Lake Bell (Poison Ivy), Alan Tudyk (the Joker), and Diedrich Bader (Batman). The series will also feature Wanda Sykes, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, and Jim Rash in as yet undisclosed roles.Focusing on Harley’s quest to join the Legion of Doom, the show promises to be quite a ride. As previously reported, it’s going to be extremely offbeat, with a view to appealing to a more mature audience. For a glimpse of some early footage, click here.

This could be yet another home run for DC Universe’s original content, as Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and Young Justice have all received glowing reviews. The bar has been set very high indeed, but all signs point to this show continuing DC’s extremely potent output.
