“Constriction” Conclusion

Writer: Rob Williams

Pencils: Joe Bennett

This is it. This is what we’ve been waiting for. The conclusion of the three part Batman invasion of Suicide Squad. After the exciting last issue, this episode jumps straight into the action. Batman and Deadshot are still on the way to save Deadshot’s daughter from the dangerous cult, Kobra. Waller has sent three of her best (?) agents after them. Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and newcomer Captain Cold.

Oh man was this story great. I loved every single issue. From the prison break, to the road trip. All the way to the helicopter fiasco of the last issue. Rob Williams, as usual, has done a brilliant job at writing an interesting story, with gripping characters.

The Family Connection

The last two story arcs have had an underlying theme of family, taking the forefront in this run. Amanda Waller’s family secrets came to light in the ‘Shock and Awe’ run. Now, Floyd Lawton’s daughter has been kidnapped by the criminal cult, Kobra. I certainly hope that Williams continues this family run.

I’d love to have more backstory to the characters within Suicide Squad. I feel like the standard team ensemble can sometimes tend to be a little one dimensional. There are so many rich characters in the roster of Taskforce X. I’d like to see a run with some ties to Captain Boomerang, or Katana. I feel like Williams could do some fantastic work in introducing more depth to these characters.

Conclusion

This was everything it could have been. It was the perfect conclusion to one of the best stories I have read in a very long time. This was genuinely perfect. I loved everything about it. The art, the writing. More like this please!
