Aside from Wonder Woman, most of the films in WB’s DC film universe have met with a lot of derision. Each film has not met with a whole lot of fanfare and have bombed with most critics. Though one of the few highlights is the casting and acting. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jared Leto as the Joker notwithstanding, most of the choices so far have pleasantly surprised most fans. Batfleck was met a fair amount of love and praise after so much fan outcry. Gal Gadot remains one of best parts of DC films as Wonder Woman. Justice League is by far the most derided film in the DC Films banner, but the cast was enthusiastic and charming. One of the very few good parts of JL, the cast made that movie watchable.
So it’s important to give credit where credit is due. The casting director of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, and Justice League, Kristy Carlson has received a very nice promotion, according to Deadline. Earlier this week, Lora Kennedy who previously worked as head of feature casting vacated the position. Kristy Carlson has since been promoted, overseeing the casting for feature roles for the Burbank studio’s upcoming movies.
Carlson joined the studio in 1999 and was promoted in 2010, serving as the SVP for Feature Casting. She has worked extensively with Zack Snyder in the past, serving as casting director of Watchmen and Sucker Punch. She has also assisted on other mega franchises like Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, both of which I am huge fan.
A big congratulations to Kristy Carlson. Thanks for helping bring some of the best live-action representations of our favorite characters to life!
