With Gotham being off the air over the past few weeks, have you been withdrawing? I wasn’t foaming at the mouth, but my Mondays have certainly felt more empty than ever. Fear not, Gotham returns on the 13th. In the meantime, WonderCon happened this weekend and yes, there was a very revealing Gotham panel with details for us to salivate over. On hand were cast members Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, along with producer John Stephens.
I’ve kept you waiting long enough, Let’s just jump into some of the juicier details revealed at the panel via the official Gotham Twitter. If you want to go into season 2 completely blank, I’d suggest you look away now.
Still here? Well, we’ve got to thank John Stephens for this incredibly tantalizing tidbits:
A few episodes ago, we were introduced to Jerome, an unhinged youth, with a wicked cackle worthy of the Joker. Fox has not been shy about hinting that Jerome could be Gotham‘s Joker and, as far as I’ve heard, people are willing accept him as such, given his chilling performance at the reveal. Well, looks like we’re getting more of him.

Interesting that they’d mention this as a separate entity altogether, but I suppose the Bruce Wayne facade is very important to the Batman mythos. I’m curious, however, as to how they’re going to have a little boy act like this without making him seem like a spoiled brat.
Producer John Stephens: “Season 2 will see the emergence of the character billionaire Bruce Wayne.” #WonderCon #gotham — Gotham (@Gotham) April 4, 2015
This next one is massive. I mean, huge. These are pretty iconic characters in the rogues gallery and I’d absolutely love to see how Gotham interprets them. So far, the show has done a very good job with extremely cunning, yet psychotic, unnerving characters. I’m absolutely giddy to see how they’d portray a man with an obsession with Alice in Wonderland. We’ve yet to see any “abnormal” characters, so I’m curious as to how they’d ground this other character.
Producer John Stephens: “We will meet Clayface and The Mad Hatter.” #WonderCon #Gotham — Gotham (@Gotham) April 4, 2015
Those are all the biggies from the official Gotham Twitter. There are a few other interesting little things like McKenzie mentioning the mustache and how he’d have to earn it or Robin Lord Taylor hesitating on revealing his inspiration for the Penguin, but otherwise that’s it for the Gotham Twitter.
However, from Variety reporter, Laura Prudom, we’ve got another humongous reveal for yet another beloved villain. Why it was excluded from the Gotham Twitter is a mystery?
#Gotham s2 will revisit the Jerome storyline, and they hope to explore characters like Victor Fries who toe the line of insanity in the DCU — Laura Prudom (@LauInLA) April 4, 2015
ROLL CALL! We’ve got billionaire Bruce Wayne, Jerome/Joker, Clayface, Mad Hatter, and Victor Fries. If this season is any indication to how season 2 will unfold, I’d say we’re in for a real treat.
I’m still little suspicious about the Victor Fries exclusion, however. I suppose that was something they weren’t ready to reveal yet.
What do you think? Excited for the return of Jerome? Curious about Mad Hatter and Clayface? Let me know.
