Synopsis: Beacon Tower was designed to save Gotham City, but the Architect has plans to make it the most dangerous weapon the city has ever seen!
Batman:Eternal #22 is a straightforward, contained issue. It continues last week’s release of the Architect, as he continues his plans of taking over the Beacon Tower. What adds to this?
Julia has found the Batcave. After Alfred was injected by Hush, he’d given her they key to Bruce Wayne’s biggest secret, and she opened the door. Alfred is still in the hospital and Batman finally hears about it. Focusing on the current problem, he decides to stop the Architect and replaces Penny-one with Penny-two (for the time being). Batman takes out the villain, saves the day but finds out something we already knew: he was working for Hush.
I enjoyed this issue. It was a quick read, stayed in (mostly) two locations and was classic storytelling. It fit in real nice with the Eternal story up to this point, leaving us wanting more next week.
My only complaints are in that Alex Garner didn’t do the cover. Jason Fabok did this week’s cover but wasn’t the main artist for the issue. These are more preferences than complaints.
Overall, another solid effort for a giant story.
